THE TERRITORY
Scanno (mt. 1050 o.s.l.) is situated between
the upper Sagittario valley and the National
Natural Park of Abruzzo: it’s surrounded
by a wonderful natural landscape culminating
with its emerald green lake. The most ancient
part of the village has medieval origins,
it's rich in monumental archs, churches and
bell towers, ancient noble palaces and wonderful
renaissance and baroque portals: immortalized
by the photographs of Henry Cartier Bresson
and Giacomelli, here every june takes place
an important photographic contest. The local
traditions are still very alive, with the
patron saints feasts, the jewels manifacture
with ancient designs, the tombolo lace, and
the traditional costume still worn by the
elderly women.
